4/23/16

All three SoCal Scullers boats competed in day three of Olympic Trials 1 on Saturday morning in Sarasota, FL.

In the women's open single scull event, Stesha Carle and Kelly Pierce raced in seperate semifinals, where the top two competitors in each race would advance to Sunday's final.

Carle won her 8:20 a.m. race with a time of 7:50.66, finishing 6.14 seconds ahead of Vesper Boat Club's Lindsay Meyer. Pierce came in second in her 8:30 a.m. race with a time of 8:05.88, following Cambridge Boat Club's Genevra Stone.

Sunday's 9:45 a.m. final will place Meyer in lane 1, Stone in lane 2, Carle in lane 3, and Pierce in lane 4.

In the men's lightweight double scull event, SoCal Scullers' Brandon Henderson and Will Young raced repechage 1, finishing second to Malta's Colin Ethridge and Matt O'Leary, with a time of 7:03.31.

Due to regatta procedure, only the top-placing crew in each repechage advanced, and Henderson and Young were eliminated, though the winning crew in the event's repechage 2 finished with a slightly slower time, coming in at 7:04.65.
