All SoCal Scullers competitors advance in second day of racing at Olympic Trials 1

Four athletes from SoCal Scullers competed in their first round of heats at Olympic Trials 1 in the second day of racing Friday morning.

 

Starting down the course in heat 1 at 8:40 a.m., Stesha Carle won her race in the women's open single scull with a time of 7:41.43, coming in 6.92 seconds ahead of Michelle Lazorchack of Indianapolis Rowing Center. Carle will advance to Saturday's semifinal.

 

At 8:50 a.m., Kelly Pierce's race in heat 2 of the same event resulted in a second-place finish for the Princeton alum, who came in at 7:43.00, 2.5 seconds behind Vesper Boat Club's Lindsay Meyer. Pierce will also advance to the semi.

 

Brandon Henderson and Will Young will move to saturday's repechage after a third-place finish in heat 2 of the men's lightweight double scull event. Finishing at 6:44.92, they pulled the sixth fastest time among all boats in the two heats.
